02/04/12	9:30 AM	EVERY CHILD CAN!	Every Child Can! When: February 4, 2012 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM What: Every Child Can! teacher training with James Hutchins. A one-day introductory course on the Suzuki philosophy and its application to education. For parents, teachers, prospective teachers and others, this course provides an inspiring, in-depth look at the Suzuki approach to teaching and learning. For teachers, ECC serves as the first course in the Suzuki Association of the Americas Teacher Development Program. To learn more, read about the ECC course and its guidelines here. Where: Studio of James Hutchins, downtown Silver Spring, Maryland Cost: $100 to be paid by 1/20/12 via check or money order. 03/22/12	9:00 AM	ECLECTIC STRINGS FESTIVAL	Eclectic Strings Festival March 22–24, 2012 Available in Atlanta, Georgia, at the same time as the ASTA National Conference! Adjudicators Byron Berline, Renata Bratt, and Michael Doucet! Unexplored genres of music are waiting for you at the 2012 ASTA Eclectic Strings Festival(ESF)! The ESF, including the new competition and comment element, is filled with boundless opportunities to stretch and enhance your musical abilities. Students and individuals will reap the benefits of the new format that will add the spirit of competition along with concrete written comments to take home and study. As an added bonus, competitive groups and individuals will compete for the Grand Prize—a chance to serve as the opening act for the internationally renowned “Barrage” during the Saturday evening concert on March 24, 2012. Evan, the grandson of Gregor Piatigorsky, is a gifted cellist himself, and has established this foundation to bring live music to underserved communities across the country.
