String Education Workshop

For High School Students

A day for high school students to learn about string teaching

with well known educators Gerald Fischbach and Anne Marie Patterson.

 

Workshop Schedule:

  9:00   Check-In. Receipt of portfolios, nametags.

  9:30            Teaching is Performing; Performing is Teaching! Dr. Fischbach, Ms. Patterson

10:00   Break

10:15            Beginning the Beginner. Dr. Fischbach

11:15   Break

11:30   Re-Beginning the Not-So-Beginner. Ms. Patterson

12:30   Lunch Break. Showing of videos

  1:30   Master Class. Dr. Fischbach

  2:45   Break

  3:00   Life As a MusEd Major and Beyond: Discussion featuring current and recent student-teachers

  4:00            Question and Answer Period

  4:30            Adjournment; Distribution of Certificates of Participation

         

Limited seats available! Reserve yours by sending $20 application fee (checks payable to MD/DC ASTA) to Anne Marie Patterson, 10617 Knollwood Ct., Waldorf, MD 20603. Please include your name, address, phone number or email address, school, string teacher and instrument. Teachers are encouraged to attend. (No fee for teachers.)

 

            The workshop will be held in room 1230 of the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. Be sure to bring your instrument and a bag lunch. (Soft drinks will be provided.)

 

You are encouraged to participate as a performer in the master class with Dr. Fischbach. Please indicate the work you wish to play.
