Welcome

ASTA MD/DC Chapter connects its members to a wide range of opportunities for professional growth. In the often isolated world of string teaching, the American String Teachers Association (ASTA) is our united voice, bringing us together to promote our common cause and to address the issues and concerns of today’s string players and teachers. As the Capital Chapter of ASTA, we have special opportunities for serving the profession.

Our state chapter has about 300 members. This includes teachers and performers of violin, viola, cello, bass, harp, and guitar. They are independent studio teachers, private and public school teachers, university professors, performers, composers and arrangers, conductors, students, retirees, amateurs and professionals, libraries, luthiers, businesses, and private enthusiasts.

We are one segment of the American String Teachers Association national organization with over 11,000 members. There are 48 other state chapters, and affiliates in many other countries around the globe.
