Welcome

The American String Teachers Association, MD/DC Chapter connects its members to a wide range of opportunities for professional growth. In the often isolated world of string teaching, ASTA is our united voice, bringing us together to promote our common cause and to address the issues and concerns of today’s string players and teachers. As the Capital Chapter of ASTA, we have special opportunities for serving the profession.

Our more than 300 members include teachers and performers of violin, viola, cello, bass, harp, and guitar. They are independent studio teachers, private and public school teachers, university professors, performers, composers and arrangers, conductors, students, retirees, amateurs and professionals, libraries, luthiers, businesses, and private enthusiasts. We are supported in this endeavor by the ASTA national organization, the many other state chapters, and affiliates in many other countries around the globe.
